February 2014 Photo Contest

February's photo contest was an open theme, "Your Favorite Shot," which welcomed an eclectic range of imagery.  From a bit of freshwater light ray action, fashion, and a wandering elephant, this month's top placers are a refreshing mélange exemplifying the diversity of underwater photography.  But ultimately, it was the image of light filling a cenote in Mexico, Kukulkan, that won the judges over.  And so we congratulate Elaine White for taking home the top prize, Adobe Elements software courtesy of Adobe

Second place honors goes to Gabriele Viertel for his dynamic fashion shot.

And finally, the third place spot was snatched up by Sumer Verma for his shot of an elephant named Rajan, the last of the swimming elephants off of Havelock Island in the Andaman Sea.  Rajan originally worked for the forest department as a logging elephant, but now spends his days swimming at his leisure.

Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to all who entered.  Also thank you to the DPG judges, and to Adobe for providing this month's prizes!

Do not forget to enter March's contest: Seahorses, Pipefish, and Seadragons for a chance to win an FG16 housing for a Canon PowerShot G16 from Fantasea!  Contest closes on March 31 at 11:59 pm.
