Ramón Domínguez
Born in México City in 1974, Ramón had his first introduction to marine life through a children´s book. The memories of that book and the first sight at the sea, defined the direction of his life. At the age of twelve, a documentary film from the famous mexican explorer Ramón Bravo, awakened in him a passion for sharks and marine life. He has been working full time as a dive master and instructor since 1995, mainly in México, from the warm waters of the Caribbean, to the temperate waters of Baja California. He shot his first underwater camera in 1998 in turbid waters of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, was a very simple film camera and with no photographic training, the results were so frustrating that almost did not use the camera again before selling it. It was not until 2005 that working as a guide for Great white shark diving at Guadalupe Island, the magnificence of this animals literally forced him to return into underwater photography, this sharks were just too much to keep them only as simple memories. Self-taught photographer and always willing to achieve better photographic skills, Ramón have founded in underwater photography the perfect way to preserve the underwater beauty beyond inmersion time and share this with people. Committed with all kind of wildlife on the planet, looks with sadness how life under water, is deteriorating rapidly under the eyes of a society that seems not to mind. His daily goal is to go under water and portray the underwater beauty, a beauty capable to change minds, helping people to remember how much we need the oceans and how much the ocean need us now. We need to protect our seas and in order to protect them we must know them. We can only love what we know and we can only protect what we love.
