Dunderburg

The Dunderberg is a three masted schooner, 186' in length. She was built in 1867 and was just over one year old when she collided with the steamer Empire State and sank. She is a beautiful example of a Great Lakes schooner. Upright in 150' of water, she is known for her stunning bowspirit with carved alligator figurehead. Other features of interest include the anchors, ornate wood carving on the bow, the windlass and the V-shaped collision hole.
