Biography of Underwater Photographer Mike Bartick

I love to get in close, Stalk and study behavior. Doing so without a re-breather is no easy task. I was taught to minimize the distance and water between the subject and your lense. Paint a little color with a complementing flash of light and let nature do the rest. I try to approach every dive as if it is the best dive of my life and somehow something always stands up to perform. While I travel worldwide to capture photos underwater, I'm fortunate to have a place to shoot in my own backyard... The Channel Islands.

What I look for in a Dive Operator:
I like an operator that can help me to achieve and exceed my goals.

Thanks Matt, i shot that with my old school 105mm and a 1.4x teleconverter. The goby kept popping out approaching the Nudi then dashing back into his den. The 105 let me catch a candid photo op.

Congrats to all the winners!!!, nice to see a California specie in the top pic too. Killer shot Mr.Lee, those Melibes are very tough to shoot too, excellent detail on the oral tentacles and perfection on the exposure, simply superb....

Excellent set of photos Alex. The waters there look very promising. As an add on destination for lembeh
