Biography of Underwater Photographer Richard . Smith

I've always been obsessed with and fascinated by the natural world. At sixteen I learnt to dive with my dad and since then there's been no looking back! I've now done 2000+ dives and get fidgety when I've been out of the water more than a couple of weeks!

I have completed my under graduate and Master's degrees in Zoology/Ecology and I am currently finishing up my doctoral studies on the ecology and behaviour of pygmy seahorses. I did most of the fieldwork for this at Wakatobi Dive Resort, which is one of the best places to see these amazing creatures. The resort's environmental ethos is second to none!

What I look for in a Dive Operator:
I don't agree with harassing creatures just to get a shot and I like guides to have a similar respect for the ocean and it's inhabitants.
