Mike Johnson is a southern California diver who has shot professionally since 1990 and, when possible, prefers freediving to blowing bubbles. He favors ultrawide and long-odds pelagic subjects like blue whales. "I get much more satisfaction from a handful of gems where the subjects present the opportunities to me than I would from an extensive library of images that might as well have been shot in an aquarium." Mike's images have appeared in National Geographic and other magazines and books on six continents as well as calendars, videos, games and even postage stamps! Mike has been a consultant to other photographers and videographers and strives to balance family and photography.

What I look for in a Dive Operator:
I look for a dive operator that enjoys ocean adventure as much as its patrons. A skipper and crew that go out of their way to meet their passengers' objectives are priceless.
