Biography of Underwater Photographer karl marchant
Photography has been almost as much of a passion as teaching people to dive. As a photographer your most important skill is buoyancy, and this is what I like to teach open water students. Not over weight them, but teach them breathing techniques which will help them improve and hopefully get them interested in photography too!
What I look for in a Dive Operator:
1. Safety.
2. Safety.
3. Good Coffee!
Until November 2008 I ran my own centre in Menorca, Spain. Being the boss was hard work but very rewarding when you have great feedback from the customers. I guess what makes me happy with a centre is feeling they are doing it for the passion and not the money, thats what makes the difference.

I actually have a D40X which pretty much functions the same except it has a better 10.2MP sensor. This is a great little camera, excellent as an an entry level DSLR.
I us an Ikelite housing with 2 DS51 strobes.
Ikelite was the cheapest way forward for me, the strobes to honest are not powerful enough, 125's would be better but if cost is an issue, this will do fine for macro and more or less ok for wide angle.
Biggest draw back is high ISO capabilities.
