Biography of Underwater Photographer Joseph Tepper
I started diving at the age of ten and since that time have wanted to become a better photographer whether using a disposable Kodak waterproof (you know the blue ones) or my D300s. Last summer I received my dive-master in Grand Cayman, where I spend much of my free time. I am currently a journalism student at New York University with a second major in Biology.

Ben, the only time I found it slightly too bright was on night dives--here i preferred to use the lesser output of a photo focus light. The automatic exposure of the iphone does a good job of compensation in either case. Definitely a solid video light--especially for an iphone!

Hi Luis,
I used a device called "Triggerfish" (http://www.divephotoguide.com/underwater-photography-special-features/article/talking-triggerfish--hedwig-dieraert/ ). It is essentially a optic sensor that plugs in electronically to a strobe, and signals it to fire when it senses a flash. Ikelite makes a similar device.

Hi Honey,
I believe Keri used a Nikon D7000 in Aquatica housing for most of these. Some of them might have been with one of several compacts that we were testing on the trip. Best,
Joe

Hi Jim,
I think you'd really love our behind the shot features. We take some of the worlds best underwater photos - most of our contest winners write a detailed article - and dissect them for our readers. You can check out previous behind the shot articles here and I'm sure we will have one or two from this months winners soon! Hope that helps!

its amazing how much control an animal that size has underwater. it can swim along the bottom without moving a grain of sand and swim beside a photographer without crushing him!

My second Sea and Sea DSLR housing and always love the ruggedness of the design and the ease with which the controls are adjusted. Several changes over older models, which seem to be universal for all companies, that I am not a fan of- comes standard with just fiber optic ports, no window above top display settings, aperture is a sideways dial rather than the scroll dial. well built, but different controls than some previous models
