I really can't understand how this can continue to happen - the slaughter of these animals is pointless but more importantly, totally inhumane. I recently had the pleasure to dive with Australian Sea Lions as well as spend some time, approx 4 hrs, with New Zealand fur seals on a land base excursion. These animals are fascinating. Their inquisitive nature almost gives them a human like quality. One look into a seals eyes and you gain a sense of emotional connection that is not experienced with other animals. Once this heartfelt connection is made, it is impossible to see how there is any justification for the senseless slaughter of these animals ... it sickens me to see the sight of 'red ice' knowing the truth behind this inhumane occurrence. It must stop.
