Why would a "lower end companion" have the same price tag as the 5dII? The T1i is a lower end companion. It's already on the shelves. What canon needs to do is team up with its own pro-camcorder division and produce a true pro-model dslr that is ALSO a kick-ass cinema camera. But Canon won't. Instead, it will be scooped by an american sunglass company, then it will come out with a competing product two years from now. Whatever. Meanwhile Nikon will probably team up with Sony and produce an EX4.
