Used with a Sanyo Xacti HD 2000 (no slot to review the camera!) and despite it's rather fiddly number of clips and worrying earlier reviews about earlier models flooding it behaved itself! The hand strap made it slightly difficult to fit in a large male hand but I had no problem. Taking out and replacing the O ring was also fiddly so we left well alone with only a surface clean most of the time. The camera itself was fantastic - we had no strobes but this wasn't a problem at all in Caribbean waters producing great colours (if the white balance was manually done). Now just got to work out how to edit....

Forgot to add that battery life is incredibly good and the facility of having two slots for memory cards means you can shoot in RAW without worrying about running out of space. All the better to avoid having to open up your housing too often and reducing risk of accidents.

Fantastic strobe; lightweight, rugged and my rechargeable batteries seem to last a long time (takes 4 AA's not 8).

Ocean Optics, the dealers, called this a "War horse" and it certainly is! Beautifully machined, balanced and all controls easily accessible you certainly get what you pay for and more. The only slight worry I sometimes have is the non-locking port but taken with care this isn't a worry once under pressure. I'd also like a more definite guideline or "click" to connect and lock in the strobe cables to the body. I'd give this a 4.5 star but since this isn't possible it gets a 5.

This is a fantastic camera! The quality of images taken are next to nothing, above and below water. It is extremely good in low lighting, fast frame rate and great continuous focusing. Although bulky and quite heavy which sometimes makes it impossible to take photos inside nooks and crannies without damaging anything, I've accepted this and do my best with my 105mm lens. It's easy to review your shots underwater and the Subal housing allows everything to be accessible. Don't think I'll be changing any of my kit in a hurry!
