Biography of Underwater Photographer Aleksandra Bartnicka
Long story short: I got certified in Palau. After becoming a divemaster and guiding dives I took to shooting mandarin fish with a borrowed point and shoot. I was really proud of those shots, but now that I look at them I can't believe how terrible they are! After three years in Palau I moved to the Bahamas in search for a better paying job, since I couldn't pay my rent anymore. And that's where my photography really took off. Thanks to my wonderful employers and captains and crew I got to practice photo all day every day and now, 6 years since I first picked up an underwater camera, I can't imagine my life without photo trips.
What I look for in a Dive Operator:
knowledge, first of all. I can take care of myself underwater, but having someone that knows where to go, is photographer friendly and provides helpful advice on location can prove invaluable. I know, I do it every day for other photographers!

Fantastic colors! The clarity of the shot is amazing as well. Thanks for the tips on settings and especially strobe positioning. Slight back lighting gives the blenny such a nice glow..

Beautiful shot.. I love the narrow depth of field and colors. Composition is nice too

Thank you! I tried to point it up, over the worm, so that only the edge would light it up. I guess that the reef on which the worm was settled, covered the light creating the shadow at the bottom. I was shooting manual at 1/2 power.
