Many people consider the Japanese "fishery" and "whaling" fleet to be terrorists of seas, willing to kill ocean life at all costs. While a few individuals in Japan are seeing the light, they are fighting a strong current in the government and a culture striving to eat the last of many species.

Ease of use becomes incidental with shutter lag. They say it doesn't lag & promote its quick response. But it does lag & takes as long to recover as any point & shoot ever did. Excellent for ass shots of retreating fish.

Lionfish are not the source of this problem. Aquarium collectors and hobbyists introduce or facilitate introduction of potentially invasive species to every ocean in the world on a daily basis. For generations the oceans kept species where they should be. Now many seas and reefs are threatened by unregulated traffic in wildlife for the pet trade. It's a dark hobby, and aquarium collecting will continue to threaten reefs worldwide.

Thanks, Carol. forgive my techno block, but I'm unable to tell if I entered the contest or not. I got no confirmation or receipt, only my photos showing up where least expected. I intended to enter a parrotfish, a spotted drum juvie & a trunkfish juvie in the portrait contest (March). Have I done so?

Hi Keri--quick questions on the SubSee: how does it perform in comparison to the MacroMate at backscatter (Get up to 3 times macro!)? That unit is pricey but the port fitting looks more substantial.

What are the common reasons for choosing a 5x diopter or a 10x?
Does the 10+ give both diopters? Do any of these configurations get in the way when not in use?

Thanks very much,
Robert
