This is an excellent camera for underwater photography. The sensor is rated higher than either the Nikon D300 or D300s. It's great in low light situations. All of the pictures on this site were taken with the Nikon D90.

Best bang for buck of current prosumer Nikon's. Does nearly all that other models do at double the price & more. Can't ask for more than that. Put the $$ you save on this camera into a new strobe for maximum value.

I have just recently taken the plunge into digital, after countless years shooting film, so I had an idea of what I was after. I settled on the D90 mainly because of price and the comparison with other high end models. I felt the features were on par and I could put the extra to the other needs like housings and so on. The results from the first dive were very impressive. In fact I was preparing myself for a dive where I spent the entire time doing adjustments and working out the best settings. But I just set it on manual, used my experience with shooting film and was immediately impressed with the result. For anyone starting out and who prefers to use Nikon this would be a must and would make a fantastic second unit if you moved into others like D300.
