I changed from film to digital with a D70 in an Ikelite housing than upgraded D200 and trying the feel of many housing for this camera went with the Nexus as it felt right. It's controls were easy to reach, had provision for optically as well as electrical triggering flash, lighter than some others, had a good range of ports available, well made. Very happy with it for the D200, then even happier as coveted the housing to hold a D300 at minimal cost using Sam Chae's adapter kit.
This was possibly the first SLR housing to allow optical flash triggering. Uses two dedicated ports which optical fibre simply push in, the on camera flash is raised as the camera is mounted and the camera ttl adjusts output. The two electrical flash connectors will trigger but, as typical, will only give ttl if used with a housed Nikon flash so would typical underwater flash would be used in manual mode.
The camera fits snugly in the housing on the baseplate mounted in the front half. This is slightly more fiddly than older film style housing with removable baseplates, but allowed just enough room that a new replacement plate for the D300. The clear back allowed simple button adapters to work the wider button positions of the newer camera. Adapter kits will also allow the housing to use the D700 camera so its possibly the most adaptable housing around.
Ports on my D200 housing are the smaller diameter introduced to keep size small, newer Nexus housing use a slightly larger port diameter. Just something to be aware off, no problem but their are three port diameters available.
