The classic high performance strobe from Ikelite, that has been succeeded by the DS-160. I have used the DS-125 in both cold and tropical waters and it has never let me down. The dials can be a little finicky with gloves on. The seal with the twist and turn mechanism with a single O-ring has always worked for me and is realiable. Performancewise I have not outpaced the flash. Granted I haven't photographed many sharks, but I am aware of other U/W photographers who shoot lots of sharks with the DS-125. The addition of a modelling light has been helpful to me as I've used the modelling light as a backup light during dives in murky water. The modelling light otherwise is not terribly helpful for aiming the strobe, but this issue has been improved on the DS-160 with a stronger modelling light. Designwise the round shape is easily stowed in my diveluggage irrespective of what I have chosen to transport my cameragear. The included charger can be fitted with various internation power prongs and has worked like a charm for me in Palau, Japan and Hong Kong, where they use different voltages and prongs for electricity. The DS-125 is a solid performer and one of my favorite pieces of U/W cameragear. Simple, sturdy and reliable. All I ever look for in my equipment.

very reliable. Taken many photos with it on both Nikon D100 and D700. Long lasting charge and works great at night for a dive light. Would like to see it recycle a bit faster

I use dual DS125 on a D300 Nikon and have had great results. Fantastic battery life, and only once have I run short of power on a dive. Excellent recycle and charge times. I really appreciate the 60 and 50 cycle electrical capacity. Modeling light is moderately helpful in aiming and finding the field and as a back-up on night dives. Very reliable equipment.

Have taken my two 125 set-up in many different temperate and tropical locations, and they have performed very well. Thanks to TSA's removal of an O-ring, I had a floor while rinsing gear after an overseas trip. Ikelite's service was both exceptional and quite reasonable. The 160's look great, but my 125's are still performing beautifully on everything from nudi's to great whites.

Great strobes with great coverage. I've used them for many years now and wish Ike was still making them.

This was an instant classic. When it was introduced it outperformed most strobes with guide number vs size/weight, recycle time, ttl capability, price, coverage angle. After the NiMh batteries came out it was even better. I was amazed on my first chance at using these strobes in a challenging situation in Fiji. I was shooting a very active group (15) of large bull sharks charging all around me. I had no chance of adjusting strobe settings manually for distance because of the speed at which the sharks were traveling. Setting the strobes on ttl gave me perfect results time and time again, even when shooting extreme wide angle lenses with blue water background. Color temp is also very pleasingly warm, perfect for wide angle where you are really needing it.
