Gates HDR-HC9

This housing is well-balanced and easy to learn and use. It lends itself well for video light mounting. The camera fits snug inside and controls are at your fingertips very comfortably. It assembles and breaks down quickly and fits very well in a carry-on sized case with room for lights, batteries, tapes, and accessories.

The flat macro dome port is spectacular, however a hood or shade is necessary to keep a small amount of light from bouncing around inside the shouding and showing up on the tape if the sun is coming from behind the shooter. Gates has now fabricated a hood that resolves this concern.

The standard dome port is not quite as wide-angled as I'd like to have, so obtaining a Fathoms wide-angle port is recommended.
