One of best point and shoot cameras available, and with ikelite housing it just works. Of course it's not DSLR.

With the easy addition of the Canon custom underwater housing, this camera can take spectacular images ... at 15 mega-pixel, the detail is amazing and the price is right.

Cons: In 3200 ISO you are limited to lower resolution pictures and you MUST use 3200 ISO is low light areas with any silt at all. Apparently the G11 fixes this.

Must haves: External flashes

All in all ... a great camera for the price point.

After flooding my G7 I wend for the G10 but this time in an ikelite house instead of the canon house.
Great compact camera .
cons: Price in Europe is to high.

When I was looking for an underwater camera+housing I found that canon was the best value for this kind of combos. The G10 has an outstanding image quality and the housing is just affordable, including access to all manual controls.

An excellent camera. Easy to use underwarter. the high mega-pixel make it a good camera for underwater. When choising an housing , one must take into consideration that the Ikelite housing block the internal flash therefore a strobe is necessary if you want to shoot macro. The quality of the picture is great, although at high ISO some noise appear. A very good camera that I will highly recommand for UW photography.

Fantastic above and underwater point and shoot that will grow with you. Fully manual settings and RAW format work really well and are easy to get the hang of after some practice if you've always worked in automatic. Great colour, great detail. I love this camera to bits.

Cons: sucks in dust through lens barrel that can cause dust on the sensor that you'll have to go through a Canon technician to clean. Also, images above 400 ISO get noisy quickly, so not fantastic for low light - the G11 addresses this by lowering the megapixels back to 10.

Essential: external strobe - the in camera flash is partially blocked by lens barrel in the Canon housing, even with the diffuser in place.
