Bossk Big Blue VL-2X30W LED

I took two days last week and went diving with the new 2x30 LED lights from Bossk (aka Big Blue). I set them up on the new Gates HF S11 housing for the Canon HF S11 camera...a camera that has excellent color saturation, however it requires a lot of light. Spending time at Catalina Island with approximately 30-40 feet of visability, the Big Blue lights were awesome. At 1,000 lumens, they were powerful enough to illuminate the 85 degree wide angle port (GP32). At 6500 degrees Kelvin, they produced excellent color...pairing the 2x30 LED lights with the Canon HF S10/HF S11 cameras is an excellent combo. The battery packs are spaced out nicely on their adaptable battery bracket to fit several housings on the market. Although the batteries are a bit heavy, its easily compensated for underwater with ULCS buoyancy arms, or Stix float arms.

For the price of the Big Blue lights, you cannot beat the value, quality and features. Highly recommended for smaller video systems...now lets see if they come out with more powerful set up for the bigger video rigs.

I am very happy with the BigBlue VL 2x30W LED Aluminum Video Light System. It shows perfection in all of the details. The products is very well finished, the quality of the aluminium (T6061=high grade, precision machined) is great, the lights also and even you can find some tape on staple for the spare parts� The two light heads deliver 1,000 lumens light output each (as per indicated in the doc), anyway I don�t know how to measure it but I am sure that is the same for all the others products. With the 2 I have, I have 2000 lumens of perfectly spread beautiful white light. The LED light heads are so compact that you may found it even too �little�, specially when compared to the cylindrical batteries but these are just normal.
I have also ordered a set of lightweight arms with rotating balls all in the same quality of aluminium and these are just perfect. I have followed advices found in the forum 1x8� + 1x5� and this seems a very good and flexible combinaison... I am used to dive with a camera and I will have to be used to dive with camera, arms, lights and batteries� I think that nearly I won�t need any weight everything will be in the camera lights and housing.
Overall, the design and the manufacturing quality of this system is excellent!
These lights offer beautiful, evenly spread white light. The manufacturer claims 6500K (I did not test this value specifically, but I believe it). Just notice 2 points for this little intro :
- I haven�t used any filter and this is true that lighting is fully operational in a few meter range and therefore I need to use some color correction to have color natural but I must admit that the lights helped a lot for the color correction as I previously tried to shoot without lighting and when color is gone no more options to have them back (except if you are an artist or a pro of imaging!)
- Oman water is really really green with lots of particles which of course reduce the quantity of light available due to distorsion�
Last point,the support that I got from the manufacturer is just excellent : advices, send updated design parts for free!!! Well nothing compared to a certain brand of housing that I unfortunately use and that I won�t recommend specially for Canon Cams HVxx!!!
