Janolus sp. nudibranch, Anilao, Philippines
Rina is a well-known personality in the Anilao area of the Philippines, especially if you have stayed at the Anilao Photo Academy. Her hospitality and warmth make her a favorite with guests and she is always ready to help her visitors in any way. What many don’t know about Rina is that she is also a world-class photographer in her own right. This week I’m happy to present my good friend Rina Yumol Jones as the DPG Photographer of the Week!
Let me first say that this recognition of her work is long overdue. Rina's macro shots are wonderful and she has found just about every critter on most macro bucket lists. Aside from managing the day-to-day affairs of Anilao Photo Academy, Rina often joins guests on their dives. This has given her an incredible opportunity to hone her craft to a very high level. Every time I see one of her new shots, I am impressed.
What I’ve loved about following Rina's work is seeing how she continuously evolves as a photographer. Over the years, I’ve seen her compositions change, her lighting adapt, and she has excelled at using post-process to add that last layer of polish to her images. I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do, and hopefully you will continue to follow her as she constantly pushes her boundaries and explores new techniques.
