At the young age of 15, Photographer of the Week Boaz Samorai set out on what would turn into a lifelong passion for underwater photography. Whilst working on an assignment for biology class, Boaz chose to document the world just beyond the shores of his hometown of Eilat, Israel, which is situated on the edge of the Red Sea. Determined to pursue an ocean-related career, he became a PADI Course Director and Technical Diver, an underwater photographer and explorer, and a dive tour leader for WildDive and Big Animals.

Boaz has led dive expeditions to quite a few revered destinations around the world, including Mexico, the Philippines, Cuba, the Maldives, Palau, Egypt, Colombia, Cocos Island, and the Bahamas. He also serves as a test diver for Fantasea and teaches underwater photography to keen students. “My biggest passion is showing the connection between man and the sea and its creatures, which accept our presence and welcome us into their habitats,” he says. “I believe that we privileged people who get to visit the underwater world have a mission to show the rest of the world the wonders that await below the surface, so we can appreciate, respect and protect this fragile environment.”
