When it comes to macro photography, an underwater shooter is usually only as good as his or her dive guide. So it’s really not fair that the new Underwater Photographer of the Week, Ivan Manzanares, is a critter-spotting dive guide extraordinaire.
Actually, it’s really not fair because Ivan works in Anilao, Philippines, one of the top spots for finding strange critters rarely seen anywhere else. It is no surprise then that Ivan’s portfolio contains many macro subjects that other photographers have spent years and logged countless frequent flyer miles to find—from ornate nudis to miniscule crustaceans.
His images have appeared in local publications and placed in the budding Anilao Underwater Photo Competition Festival, among other contests. So here’s to all of the talented, critter-spotting dive guides out there who still find time to excel in underwater imaging.
“Chillin’ Outside My House”
“Knock Before You Enter”
“Tiny and His Hair”
“The Flaming Dragon”
“Hide and Seek”
Want to find come critters? We‘re sure Ivan can help you out!
