Z Cam has officially released two full-frame 6K E2-F6 and 8K E2-F8 cinema cameras, which are now available for preorder. Unveiled during NAB 2019, the new models are budget high-resolution versions of the Chinese company’s pro-level E2 4K cinema camera.
Available with EF or PL lens mounts, the E2-F6 and E2-F8 feature full-frame CMOS sensors, support for ZRAW (Z Cam’s proprietary RAW codec), HDMI 2.0 Type-A, USB-C, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, and 5GHz and 802.11n Wi-Fi.
The E2-F6 shoots 6K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps with a claimed 15 stops of dynamic range, while the E2-F8 shoots 4K, 6K and 8K at 30fps with 14 stops of dynamic range. Both models can record in 8-bit H.264 and 10-bit H.265 with a max bit rate of 300Mbps.
Shipping in October, the E2-F6 and E2-F8 have price tags of $4,995 and $5,995, respectively. It will be interesting to see whether the cameras receive the support of underwater housing manufacturers.
