XL Collapse Leaves Many Wondering How To Get To Red Sea

By Matt J. Weiss, September 20, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

In the diving industry, often times its accessibility that dictates how popular a dive destination will be. The U.S. and Europe are the biggest dive markets, but no real dive mecca lies within its borders. If you wanna dive the Pacific, its usually an expensive long plane ride or a cold water dive. Even Air Asia opening flights from KL to Manado was a big deal, since it made North Sulawesi more accesible. The one exception was the Red Sea, accesible to people in Europe, especially the UK and considered world class diving.

Now however, hundreds of dive operators have been forced to find altenative ways of clients geting to their operations as XL a major airlines to the area has closed down.  Dive Operators who have offered package deals are scrambling to find altnernative flights to popular dive destinations.
