Winners of Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year Announced
By Joseph Tepper, October 19, 2011 @ 07:45 PM (EST)
The results of the Veolia Environment Photographer of the Year have been released. While the overall winner is not an underwater photographer, the subcategory “The Underwater World” produced some impressive images.
Paul Souders captured the best of “The Underwater World” with his rare image of a pair of walruses taken in arctic Norway. Said Souders:
“Even before I slid off the iceberg into the sea, my heart was racing and my lips were turning blue. I had no idea what to expect, other than that, under water, these huge masses of flesh and tusk would swim with grace and power. And that's what I wanted to show.”
