
Warm Waters Bleaching Reefs In Florida

The vibrant colors of Florida Keys reefs have begun to fade in recent weeks, a sign scientists hope doesn't erupt into serious coral bleaching.
Bleaching, triggered by extended weeks of hot and calm weather, doesn't immediately kill coral but can weaken it, slowing growth and reproduction and leaving already fragile colonies more vulnerable to assorted diseases, pollution and even the accidental brush of a diver's fin.
