More than 3,000 volunteers cleaned up rubbish-strewn beaches in Malaysia's eastern Terengganu state used by nesting turtles amid fears the animals were disappearing, officials said Sunday.
The two-day project, jointly organized by the Australian-based environment group Clean Up the World and local authorities, involved cleaning a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) stretch of beach on the Terengganu coastline which fronts the South China Sea.
