VIDEO: Reviving a Tiger Shark

By Hergen Spalink, February 16, 2013 @ 06:40 AM (EST)

The Fremantle Herald reported and posted video of a strange scene below their local jetty.  Apparently some divers came across a 2m tiger shark that had been reportedly stabbed and thrown into the water earlier in the day by local fisherman.  The divers managed to help the shark clear its gills of sand and begin swimming again.  Apparently cruel acts against sharks & rays from this particular jetty are common according to divers interviewed for the article.  Read the original article here or watch the footage below.

I dive at this jetty regularly and confirm that these cruel acts are in fact common. Dead and mutilated fish (especially small sharks and rays) litter the sea floor, with other debris the reckless fishermen dispose of.

It's quite a depressing dive.
