Attempts to reunite the abandoned calf in Sydney by bringing back to the open sea have failed. Apparently the calf is geting weaker, as it continues to try to nurse from a large boat in the harbor.
According to the International Fund For Animal Welfare the calf needs 230 litres of milk a day, and obviously the baby whale has been getting none.
Reports from the scene are that it is a very sad and distressing sight. Our hearts are with the calf, but we must remember that it is normal for some Humpbacks to abandon their young from time to time. Unfortunetly, veiwers have to witness this confused animal struggle.
