Underwater Image Nabs First Place in Smithsonian Natural World
By Jason Heller, September 9, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Smithsonian Magazine announced the winners of their 5th annual photo contest, and we're proud to announce that the winner of the Natural World category was an underwater image by Thomas Vignaud, a 22 year old Marine Ecology student from Marseille, France. His dramatic shot titled Young fish dart by a jellyfish in the sea. It's a unique image of an otherwise common scene, proving that you can create new ways of looking at common subjects. The color, contrast and top lighting make the shot really stand out. Congratulations from the team at DPG!
