Underwater Shooter Nadia Aly Wins in the 6th Annual Fine Art Photography Awards
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, April 20, 2020 @ 01:00 AM (EST)

DPGer and Photographer of the Week Nadia Aly has clinched first place in the Wildlife/Animals professional category of the 6th annual Fine Art Photography Awards for her superb capture entitled “Rays of Light.” The image of aggregating mobula rays was shot off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. The grand prize winners were Ewa Cwikla (professional) and Ioanna Natsikou (Amateur).

We were particularly struck by one powerful winning image—second place in the Abstract amateur category, “Mar De Plástico.” A statement from its creator Agustin Busselo Ortega reads: “The presence of plastic in the sea represents a serious problem in our habitat. The purpose of this photography is to represent the sea through plastic sheets, but from a creative point of view.”

Head over to the Fine Art Photography Awards website for the full professional winners gallery and amateur winners gallery. The 7th competition is already accepting entries.
