The organizers of Underwater Photographer of the Year have announced the winners of the 2019 competition, and the UK’s Richard Barnden took the top prize as well as earning the title of British Underwater Photographer of the Year 2019. Entitled “The Gauntlet,” his winning image in the Behavior category, shot at French Polynesia's Fakarava South Pass, captures the moment a shark bites down on an unfortunate parrotfish.
The results were announced live on stage at the Go Diving Show in Coventry, UK, and the 48 finalists’ images were presented at the event. The 2019 Yearbook is available to download as a PDF. Congratulations to all the winners!
