TSA Issues New Rules for Carry-on Camera Equipment

As a result of an increased threat to security, the US Transport and Safety Administration (TSA) recently issued new rules for those traveling with camera equipment in carry-on luggage. As additional security measures, the TSA is mandating that all travelers with electronics larger than a cell phone remove any devices from their bags and place them in separate trays with nothing above or below each item. By doing so the TSA officers will have a clearer image as electronics are X-rayed.

The new rules had already been implemented and tested at Boise, Colorado Springs, Detroit, Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood, Logan, Lubbock Preston Smith, Luis Munoz Marin, McCarran, and Phoenix Sky Harbor airports. In the weeks and months to come, the new rules will be expanded to all airports in the U.S. However, travelers with TSA Pre-Check are exempt from the new rules.
