A new Tokina lens, the Opera 50mm F1.4 FF for Canon EF and Nikon F mount, is set to be released later this month at the CP+ show with an intended shipping date of September of this year—according to leaked information. Features include dust and weather resistance as well as an ultrasonic motor, a focus ring that rotates the same direction as does a genuine Canon or Nikon lens, and, specifically for Nikon shooters, an electromagnetic iris system, which is a first for Tokina.

In addition, their new FíRIN 20mm F2 FE AF for Sony E-Mount is expected to be announced any day now with an expected shipping target of the end of April. Its features will most likely include autofocus that will enhance its manual focus capability, but it will remain mostly unchanged from its previous version released in September of 2016. Leaked information also indicates that Tokina managed to reduce the weight of the lens by about 26 grams, from 490g to 464g, but that information, as well as the tip about the addition of the autofocus, has not yet been confirmed by Tokina.
