The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has announced its yearly photography gear award winners. As expected, Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fujifilm divvy up most of the spoils, with Panasonic and Sigma also picking up awards.
“Best DSLR Expert Camera” goes to Nikon for the D780, while Canon gets “Best DSLR Professional Camera” and “Best DSLR Advanced Camera” for the EOS 1DX Mark III and EOS 90D, respectively. “Best Full Frame Professional Camera” is awarded to the Sony a7R Mark IV, while “Best Full Frame Camera Expert” goes to the Sigma fp.
Nikon scores “Best APS-C Camera Advanced” for the Z 50, Sony picks up the “Best APS-C Camera Expert” award for the a6600, and Fujifilm bags the “Best APS-C Camera Professional” accolade for the X-Pro3. “Best Full-Frame Photo/Video Camera” goes to the Panasonic Lumix S1H.
Finally, in the compact categories, the Sony RX100 VII unsurprisingly clinches the award for “Best Expert Compact Camera” while the “Best Premium Compact Camera” goes to the fixed-lens Fujifilm X100V. The Canon G7 X Mark III gets the rather dubious accolade of “Best Vlogging Camera”—but they might as well have called it the “Best Enthusiast Compact Camera.”
