We’ve seen some pretty creative magazine covers—like that time Newsweek published the first digital, animated cover of a submarine descending underwater. But Time Magazine’s latest cover aims high, literally.
Time Magazine used nearly 1,000 drones (958 to be exact) to recreate the publications iconic cover design. The cover teases the main story of the issue: a special report on the rise of the technology called “The Drone Age.”
The display measured more than 300 feet tall while using Intel’s Drone Light Show Team and Astraeus Aerial Cinema Systems. Best of all, there’s a behind the scenes video detailing how the team nailed the cover shot. Check it out below and view the cover on newsstands beginning June 11, 2018.
