The Awful Truth Of By-Catch Caught On Film

By Matt J. Weiss, September 5, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Out of sight out of mind. Thats what a lot of people say about why the ocean is in such trouble. People don't care about because people don't see it. Thats why we are important as underwater photographers and videographers, right? We show the beauty of the ocean so people wont destroy it. Maybe its not enough. Maybe we need to show both how beautiful the ocean is, and how badly we are destroying it. Here is a video that does the latter-a British trawler dumping its by-catch of small, less valuable fish to make its quota. The dead fish will all go to waste. Died for nothing. Completely, 100 percent legal.
