Tamron’s New 17–35mm Lens for Canon and Nikon

Tamron has announced a new 17–35mm f/2.8–4 lens for Canon and Nikon cameras. The lens is designed to be a wide-angle zoom lens for full-frame cameras, and at just 1.01lbs in weight, it’s one of the lightest in its class.

The lens is priced at roughly half of the $1,099 Tamron 15–30mm f/2.8 VC lens. But the sacrifices—image stabilization and a stop of speed—aren’t huge deal breakers for underwater image-makers. The lens features 15 elements in 10 groups, a moisture-resistant construction—yay!—and an optimized silent drive.

The Nikon-mount version of the Tamron 17–35mm f/2.8–4 will be available on September 4th, with a price tag of $599. The Canon version will begin shipping a bit later. More information can be found here.
