2nd Place, National Awards by Kam Moon Lai
The World Photography Organisation has announced Sony World Photography’s National Awards 2020 winners. The National Awards program supports and celebrates local photographic talent from more than 60 countries and regions around the world. All images entered into the Open competition are eligible for a National Award. The competition saw the highest number of entries ever—over 190,000. The 1st place image is an amazing aerial shot, captured from a helicopter, of flamingos flying over Lake Magadi in Kenya by Hong Chen from Hong Kong.
The 2nd place image, by Kam Moon Lai, is a school of jack swimming towards an underwater videographer, which was photographed at scuba diving hotspot Sipadan in Malaysia. Uber-talented DPGer Greg Lecoeur also placed in the contest: His amazing picture of crabeater seals living on the pack ice was taken during an expedition around the Antarctic Peninsula.
