Sony has announced a new editing suite called “Imaging Edge: Remote, Viewer, and Edit.” The name of the suite is a bit on the nose, but accurately describes the three primary functions. The release of the software is timed to augment the advanced features of the new a7R III—specifically the workflow-demanding “Pixel Shift” technology.
Here is a brief breakdown of the features. The “Viewer” function offers a similar appearance to Lightroom and allows users to rate and organize image’s. In “Edit,” you can perform essential RAW editing (brightness, white balance, contrast, crop, etc.) before exporting to other image formats.
In “Remote” studio photographers – sorry, underwater shooters – can use the live tethering to simultaneously tweak composition and camera settings. This feature is designed in concert with the “Pixel Shift” mode, which combines a series of multiple images to create a super-resolution image.
