By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, March 24, 2020 @ 08:00 PM (EST)

Second Prize: “Family” by Ben Mack (Australia)

If you love creating short films of your dive travel adventures, then you’ll know how a few seconds of awesome drone footage can add the icing on the cake. And even if you don’t, well, you can still appreciate the spectacular winners of the SkyPixel 5th Anniversary Aerial Photo and Video contest.

This edition’s Grand Prize winner was Tony Wang from China, who captured a stunning scenic shot of Indonesia’s Mount Bromo and surrounding volcanoes. Also among the 56 category winners and finalists were some great shots that ocean junkies will particularly appreciate, including Ben Mack’s mother whale with her newborn migrating south, Shaneri’s surfer riding a big winter swell at Western Australia’s Margaret River, and a small pod of whales crusing past icebergs in Greenland’s emerald waters.

More than 18 million aerial image-makers from 140 countries have contributed to the SkyPixel platform since its launch in 2014. The competition is a partnership between SkyPixel, DJI, Nikon, SanDisk, and Western Digital.

Third Prize: “Margaret River Surfing” by Shaneri (Australia)

5th Anniversary Prize: “The Beauty of Greenland from Above” by Albert (Netherlands)
