Shark Conservation Efforts “Brewing” in Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands brewery company Caybrew has launched a new beer aimed at raising local shark awareness.
The new beer, aptly named “White Tip Lager,” is the creation of Cayman’s environment department and Marine Conservation International. Each can of White Tip features a special barcode, which consumers can scan with their smartphones to access more information about the efforts to preserve shark populations.
In addition, $1.20 from each case (or five cents per can) will be donated towards the conservation effort. Conservation groups and Caybrew believe that the island’s affinity for diving tourists make this this the perfect opportunity to raise awareness, while reaching out to a younger audience.
Looks like a new shark conservation effort is “brewing” in the Cayman Islands.
Note: While we here at DPG love innovative ideas to raise conservation efforts, it is important to never drink and dive!
