SeaLife Introduces 0.5x Wide Angle Dome Lens for DC2000
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, June 4, 2018 @ 01:00 AM (EST)

SeaLife has unveiled a 0.5x wide-angle dome lens designed for their DC2000 underwater camera. The new wet lens increases the field of view of the camera’s built-in fixed lens by 100%—from 50 degrees to 100 degrees—making it possible to shoot wide-angle subjects like reefscapes, fish schools and wrecks. The attachment gives the DC2000’s lens an effective focal length of 16mm.

Depth-rated to 200 feet and weighing 20.8oz, the lens features five optical elements in five groups and all elements have anti-reflective, anti-glare coatings. While the wet lens works with all SeaLife DC-series cameras, it can also be used other housings that feature a 52mm thread mount. The lens ships with a 52mm DC adapter ring for attaching to the DC2000.

Available now, the SeaLife 0.5x Wide-Angle Dome Lens retails for $499.

SeaLife® Introduces New 0.5x Wide Angle Dome Lens for DC2000 Camera

MOORESTOWN, NJ – SeaLife, the leading maker of underwater imaging gear, introduced a new 0.5x Wide Angle Dome lens that increases the camera’s field-of view by 100%, allowing underwater photographers to get closer to the subject and still fit everything into the frame.

The 0.5x lens design uses high grade optical glass components arranged in a 5 element/5 group array with an integrated dome lens port that delivers crisp edge-to-edge sharpness. All optical elements are fully, multi-coated to prevent internal glare and maximize light transmission. “This is by far the most advanced wide angle lens we have ever produced”, says Bjorn Harms, SeaLife’s Vice President of Product Development. “The image quality and sharpness is superior to other wide angle lens available in the market.” The lens has a 16mm effective focal length when used with the SeaLife DC2000 and is waterproof to 200ft/60m.

The lens fits all SeaLife DC-series cameras and all other cameras with a 52mm thread mount, and comes with a 52mm DC adapter ring (SL977). Easily attach and remove this lens both on land and underwater. The SeaLife Dome Lens weighs 590 grams and is negatively buoyant.

The inner airspace is back-filled with nitrogen to prevent fogging in extreme temperature conditions. The rotatable light shade prevents unwanted glare from external lighting or sunlight, as well as protect the dome lens from bumps and abrasion.

The new conversion lens is available now with pricing as follows:
