
Seafood Restaurant Fines Customers for Wasted Food

Commercial fishing can be an extremely dangerous and demanding occupation, and a seafood restaurant in Sapporo, Japan, now acknowledges that by charging a fee to customers who leave food on their plates.
Their signature dish, rice topped with a mound of salmon roe, comes with the disclaimer that customers will be charged extra if even a single grain of rice is left in the bowl. The restaurant then donates the money to fishermen.
According to the restaurant’s owner, the idea has been so successful that he is opening a second restaurant in Tokyo.
