The U.S. Coast Guard located 1,800 pounds of cocaine floating in the eastern Pacific Ocean last month. The small bundles were tied together to keep the packages from separating. And amongst the bales of cocaine, officers also found a loggerhead turtle tangled with a rope wrapped around its neck.

Loggerheads are listed as threatened, and while it’s unusual for marine mammals to be found trapped in bundles of drugs, it is very common for them to be found tangled in other sorts of pollution.
