Benito Estevez recently found something interesting in his trawl net -- a digital camera. After he hauled it up from the Atlantic seabed he must've checked the SD card and, remarkably, the images survived.
One of the photographs is a woman posing on a ship, identified as the QM2, and in the background is another ship, the QE2. That doesn't mean much to anyone unless you know this shocking fact, the QE2 made its last run in November of 2008. That means the camera had been sitting on the bottom of the Atlantic for over a year!
I wasn't able to figure out the camera model, but in any case, an impressive feat for a SD card. The lesson to be learned -- even if you flood your camera, your images from that dive may still be intact. Full story on BBC.
