Debate Over NJ's River Dolphins

By Matt J. Weiss, January 21, 2009 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

Right now scientists are not looking at a pod of dolphins in New Jersey's Shrewsbury River  as being lost or trapped, and therefore believe it's better to not move them. They insist that moving them may not even be safer for the dolphins. However, already 5 have died in the frigid waters.

This has lead many activists and animal rescue teams to fight for their relocation, back to warmer waters. People have even distributed fliers to surrounding businesses.

Surely this would never be an issue if it wasn't a charismatic animal like the "permanently smiling" dolphins. Animals are found in new places all the time.

So what do you think should be done with the animals? Let them stay or relocate them somewhere warmer? Comment below
