Sanho Release HyperDrive iPad Hard Drive

By Drew Wohl, September 23, 2010 @ 04:06 PM (EST)

As digital photographers we are always looking for something to back up our photos.  With travel restrictions that make every ounce and inch of gear a consideration for packing, Netbooks and small laptops have become more appreciated.  Earlier this year Apple's iPad became another hot seller.  It's screen and ability to do many things, such as using Photogene or the iWork Apps on the iPad, made it a powerful little device.  And when the camera connection kit was released, I actually (gasp) did a couple of trips without my Laptop - just carried the connection kit, the iPad and my trusty Sanho Corporation Colorspace card reader which backs up SD and CF cards.  I actually have two card readers from Sanho - I bought the Colorspace UDMA.  With error checking, data recovery and other features I love both the units.  The newest version is really fast to download cards.

Perhaps I should have waited before buying my second unit -   Sanho has released its newest card reader, the HyperDrive iPad Hard Drive.   Yup, it is just as it sounds.  Using the the camera connection kit you, and the the HyperDrive's built-in 3.2" LCD screen, you can select a folder on the HyperDrive which will then have its contents  appear on the iPad screen, and you can choose which items to download to the iPad.  With capacities of up to 750 Gigs, there is alot of media (including video) available to the iPad  I have not seen the operating manual yet, but this sounds like the perfect accessory for digital photographers who need to travel light.
