A few weeks ago, Olympus announced that it will be selling its camera division to investment firm Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). Now, a post from 43 Rumors suggests that the brand name will soon cease to exist, with new products simply branded “OM-D,” “PEN” or “ZUIKO” from 2021. (And will it just be “Tough” from then on?) The post also says the recently released product roadmap is “still valid.”
Intriguingly, the 43 Rumors post claims only the Olympus Tokyo headquarters knew about the sale of the camera business: “Olympus Europe and North America only learned this from the press release.”
