Rescue divers from the Saudi Coast Guard are working against the clock to save a “rare shark” that has been trapped in a Saudi sewage drain since last Friday.
Although no exact identification of the specific shark species has been released, officials have been trying to safely push the estimated 18 foot-long trapped animal out from the sewage system of the financial zone in the Gulf Kingdom for several days.
“We have deployed a large figure of divers subsequent to when we established a report that a large shark had been trapped in the sewage system in the economic city,” explained Lt. Saleh Al Shahri, the spokesman for the Saudi Coast Guard.
Efforts to rescue the shark are still underway.
